can you be a Christian and not love everyone?

There is a difference between love as a feeling and love as a verb. You're not going to feel loving feelings toward everyone, particularly those who mistreat you or hate you. That wouldn't even be sane. That being said, you still show love to others in spite of them being enemies. Examples would be refusing to engage in vindictive or revenge behaviour, forgiving, showing goodness to others even when they don't deserve it, telling them about Christ if the opportunity arises. It doesn't mean you have to be friends with them, but you can still show God's love.

My ' Christian ' work colleague related the following to me

'' I was waiting for the tram when some tramp asked me for a cigarette . I got in his face and told him I know Jesus and he says f uck off ''

So deduce what you like from that , he was a member of several Christian organisations .

Sure, because the word "everyone" is ambiguous and changeable. It can mean, "I wish for world peace" OR it can mean "Honey, put the kids in the bunker coz I am gonna start a war" It just depends on what situation you find yourself in.

Christian reading is not the same as regular reading.

I guess you can love people and not like them or what they do.

Christians are just saved sinners and since while on earth, you will sin, that is why you can ask forgiveness and Jesus will forgive you. He knows your heart.
