Man ignores the instructions in Scripture regarding worship, having created their own interpretations so that they end up ignoring the commands of God in this regard.

The Bible speaks of a "falling away" in the letter days (this time period) II Thessalonians 2: 3 which is due to the same problem; substituting doctrines of men for sound doctrine. Each Christian has an obligation to search the Scriptures, especially new covenant, to see if the doctrines you are being taught are sound. For years I was fooled into believing that tithing was new covenant, and it is not. None of the disciples taught the 1st century church to tithe. It is only mentioned in Hebrews because these converted Jews were raised under the law and had to be "reprogrammed" in their beliefs (chapter 7, verses 12- 19). Every Christian should own and use frequently the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance and Dictionary. This is how I noticed the absence of the word "tithe" in the new covenant. Many other bad doctrines have slipped into the church and are perpetuated by seminaries, which themselves are not Scriptural. Human logic dictates that only man can teach man to become a pastor or priest, but this leads to error. Just as Paul was taught of the Holy Spirit, so should each man, including those not entering the ministry. This leads us to the largest heresy of all practiced in the church, teaching the baptism in the Holy Spirit is optional or worse yet, not for the modern church. The book of Acts clearly states that every Christian should be baptized by the Holy Spirit; for how else could we determine that we are being led astray? This same Holy Spirit reveals the Scriptures to us as we study them, things hid from the proud theologians who determine curriculum at seminaries. I Corinthians 1: 25- 28 tells us that not many wise "after the flesh" are called, yet if theologians are instructed by other theologians, are they not wise after the flesh? These same men revise God's Word, changing key passages to suit themselves (Like Philippians 2: 5, 6), changing the meaning to the opposite that God intended; the exact reason we can only rely upon the KJV and NKJV Bibles.

Other bad doctrines abound, such as the teaching of Purgatory, confessing our sins to a man as opposed to God, making a priest or pastor the middleman between God and man; all are false doctrines. What Jesus said to the religious leaders of his day is still true today; "You yourselves do not enter in and you prevent those that would."

One of the things Jesus was was a prophet - something well known by Muslims. Prophets come, usually in times of trouble, to bring God's message to get people to go in the right way. One of the things that the Jews were then was very legalistic. While the Covenant may have come from God, they were overly strict about observance of the "rules," but, not so much about the ideas that the rules represented. Basically, the ideas of men were being treated as the ideas of God, which Jesus was pointing out.

Of course, Christians have that Jesus was both man, and God at the same time. He would know the right way of doing things! His idea was to listen to God, not men, to get their doctrine - i.e., the ways of believing, and "doing" religion.

Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees because their hearts were far from God. it wasn't the fact that they were worshipping God it was the fact that they were worshipping Him with a wrong heart. that is the problem with many of the alleged contradictions that Muslims say are in the Bible. Muslims simply don't understand it

A person can better know the true meanings of verses from scripture if he or she meditates on them while reciting Hail Marys with care.

That's an important question to get the answer to and john b. and Oleg have dealt with some of the scriptures you enquire about. I just want to add that the one you mention in Colossians 2:22 was not made by Jesus, but by the apostle Paul, who understood Jesus' warning to the religious hypocrites He addressed (in those other scriptures).

Col.2:22 has Paul asking Christians why they would fall back into man-made rules when Christ has set them free from such things. "These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence."

In the preceding verses, we learn why Christians have to value the freedom that Christ's death secured for them. It is because of WHO Jesus actually is. And this shows why Christians worship the resurrected Christ. From the start of chapter 2, Paul explains their need to "know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no-one may deceive you by find-sounding arguments."

He adds, "See to it that no-one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fulness of the Deity lives in bodily form...

"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us. He took it away, nailing it to his cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Therefore, do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; ;the reality, however, is found in Christ."

That is why Christians worship Christ, for in Him all the fulness of the Godhead dwells, bodily. It was God, in Christ, suffering for our sins, that they could be pardoned. Having been set free in Christ, Christians must not be captured by man-made doctrines of men, which always try to enslave us to a system of doing things to earn God's pardon. The Bible is clear that no human can ever do enough to cancel out their sin against God. It took God, in Christ, becoming one of us (yet without sin) to fully represent us, and to have the magnitude of deity needed to atone for all the sin of the world.

Please add this to the answers already given by john b. and Oleg, to get the full and awesome grasp of just WHO it was dying for our sins on the cross, and why the grave could not hold Him. When Christ sets us free, we are pardoned, and enabled to live for God free from human regulations and requirements.

Jesus knows everything, so he knows that worshipping him will produce exactly the same outcome as worshipping a bar of soap.
