Monthly cost of living in London?
Hallo Londoners! I'm looking to move to the UK and have no idea what salary I should ask for in my new job since I have no experience with living in London. I know it's supposed to be expensive, but what's your actual monthly spending? Is e.g. 18 000 GBP (after tax!!) per year enough to get by comfortably with a flat that's not too out of the way?
Seriously? Of the some 8.6 million Londoners there's none around here who could give me an estimate of their monthly costs? I'm not asking for a detailed list, just a general sum.

A lot more than you'd imagine. For example accommodation is massively expensive; you can easily spend £400+ a week to rent a studio or one-bed flat, and potentially £1000 a month to rent a room in a shared flat or house. Add bills, food, transport and all other living costs on top and you can easily spend most of your income (as many young Londoners do)
