Okay to run CPU at max load and 75C for extended periods of time?
I m having my computer run some heavy simulations. I want to run the CPU at max load for up to a week at a time. It gets around 75C. It s an i5-4690K. Is this okay to do or do I need to keep it cooler or reduce the load?

continuous load for weeks at a time is never good unless youre watercooling and keeping it below 50c. your pc would probably die within a month as the thermal compound on the cpu would likely dry. also why are you running simulations on a cpu usually gpus are much better at these kind of calculations

It sounds like you are using the stock cooler. This works for desktop use, but not heavy gaming or video editing.
Get an after market cooler. The CoolerMaster 212 is great for $35, but you need to get to the back of the motherboard to install a bracket. Easy when building, but a pain to retro-fit a existing build.
Look at the Noctua cooler which might be easier to install.
Then - take the cover off the PC. Lay it flat so heat will rise up & out of the case. Then try running your simulation and see how the temps are.

I wouldn't let it go any higher than that. If you aren't using one already, an aftermarket cooler might a good investment.
