In basketball (specifically NBA) is it against the rules to get a jumping boost from one of your teammates?

To further explain what I mean, say a member of my team were to crouch down and I d use him as a kind of stepping stone to get higher, would that be a foul?

Strange question, I know, but I ve been curious about this for a while now.
