Do Protestants know that the dogma of Mary being the Mother of God ...?
was not to elevate Mary but rather to combat the heresy of Nestorianism?
I meant to add a description when I posted my question. To clarify, I'm wondering if there are statistics on the rough % of Protestants who understand the dogma and Nestorianism. It seems like the majority of the people who have a problem with the title have no idea what it even means.

"Have no fear, Mary, for you have found favor with God; and, look! you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you are to call his name Jesus. This one will be great and will be called "Son" of the Most High . . .” The angel went on to say that God would give him the throne of David his father..."
I believe Protestants have two reasons they may reject that dogma.
One being many believe Mary is the mother of God's "son." And the other is
many believe she supplied only Christ’s human flesh and not His divinity, and therefore in no sense could be called Mother of God.
And some, perhaps many, don't even know of Nestorius.
Nestorianism is basically the doctrine that Jesus existed as two persons, the man Jesus and the divine Son of God, rather than as a unified person
As to
"was not to elevate Mary but rather to combat the heresy of Nestorianism?"
I think many Protestants understand the combat the Catholic church had with Nestorius theory. But they didn't and don't agree with the elevation to what many call idolatry as they see it of the Catholic Church toward Mary neither --as you can see by some answers here
I don't know statistics there but I doubt few understand the Mary dogma and Nestorianism. As it means nothing to their salvation.

I am a Catholic and I love the Catholic Church but Mar is not the Mother of God. She is the Mother of Jesus. Out of all the women that ever lived or ever will live, God chose Mary to be the Mother of His only begotten Son, Jesus. In a sense, Jesus is God in the same sense that my right arm is Body, but it is not the Body. To say that Mary is the Mother of God is very misleading and implies that Mary is a Goddess which she is not. For that reason I am sorry that the Church uses that term but you know, The Church did not ask Me if it was a good idea to use that term.

Sadly, most of our Protestant brothers & sister fail to acknowledge Mary as the Mother Of God. :-(
