Who is your favourite US writer and why?

Edgar Allan Poe, because he was a unparalleled genius. His book Eureka accurately described modern cosmology and the Big Bang Theory, though written in 1848.

Poe was a wonderful poet and story writer. There is no other American poet or writer who compares to him.

Cormac McCarthy, he has a very honest and descriptive way of writing and his style is unique.
