Is this a new trend to wear Snekers without the shoelaces?

Unfortunately it is, especially in urban areas. It started with the "too cool to tie my laces" look, which resulted in some manufacturers make closed-loop elastic laces. But they missed the point. Now to show their coolness, some guys just eliminate the laces altogether, which also eliminates the tripping hazard from stepping on the laces. Now all they have to worry about is keeping their oversized pants from falling down and tripping them.

I hope not. Unless they're made to be worn that way, you could really wreck your feet or ankles if you have to drag your shoes around because they keep falling off.
