It takes a long time for desktop to load after login.?
It's very similar to what's called the "black screen of death" where all I get is a black screen and a cursor, but after a few hours the desktop loads. How do I fix this? I've tried del "c:\Windows Activiation Techonologies", but that folder is apparently missing.
I can't system restore.

Try to boot without any attachment like USB, Printer (connect only keyboard and mouse). If problem persist then it is not a hardware problem, then check startup option in msconfig. in windows 7 or earlier version in start/run type msconfig and uncheck all unwanted software in startup tab.
Sandy is also right. It may be a virus problem. So clean your pc with updated anti-virus.
If then also problem exist contact any computer engineer to check problem.

that's a virus. the next time you get the desktop to load, download everything you need onto a flash drive. Then wipe your hard drive. Buy a piece of software to do it. Then reload with Windows or whatever O/S and your drivers.
