How satisfied are you with Windows 8 compared to Windows 7?
I think Windows 8 sucks. It doesn't come with the Windows games that came with Windows 7 and there is no Windows experience index to judge the performance of my pc. Can't even find the games on the microsoft website to install them. Windows 8 is also harder to navigate, and there is no power off icon on the screen.

I am extremely happy with Windows 8 having switched from Windows 7.
I use ClassicShell which gets rid of the silly touch screen layout/theme.
I particularly enjoy the fact that having just upgraded operating system, I got a noticeable improvement in gaming performance.
personally, I don't think the Windows Experience Index is something to be missed. it was a crude measurement of how a computer should work but it didnt actually mean anything. the measurements left out large aspects of performance that actually matter in the real world. as for the lack of built in games, I'm fine with it. I installed my own games which are much better. navigation to me is the same as Windows 7 (thanks to ClassicShell) and overall, I like the sleek design of it.

If you have Classic Shell you'll be fine. Win 8 does boot faster, but because I didn't want to explain Win 8 to all of my users on my 100+ network I installed Win 7 Pro. People have handled the transition from XP without much difficult.

You are frustrated with W8 because you have not set up a MS User Account. With a MS Accout then you can download APP & upgrade to 8.1, which much more like W7
You must be signed in to Windows 8 or 8.1 with a MS Hotmail or Outlook Online Account with Administrator privileges, and your account activated in order for you APPS and/or the STORE to work.
To check if Windows is Activated → right click Start Button → System
Account Setup →
From the CHARMS Menu → Settings → Change PC Settings (bottom RH corner) → USERS → Your Account & setup
From the Desktop screen → Windows Key + W → enter USER in search
Click USERS on search results → "Your Account" & setup

Win 8 has better boot speeds. Look it up . I love it. And besides. Programs like classic shell make it feel like windows 8 if you have buyers remorse
