What other breeds of dogs look like a Black Norwegian Elkhound?

Question

I had a dog that look like this as a child but it was a mutt that looked just like this breed. I searched online for this dog to buy it but this breed is hard to get in black. I was thinking my old dog was a mix of a black lab and collie but when I google imaged it it did look like my dog. It was a somewhat large dog with small pointy ears, longish snout, a super curled tail as shortish black hair. Please help me find the breeds of dogs that made mine or just another breed like the Black Norwegian Elkhound

My dog looked just like that, he was a black lab golden retriever mix.

Any spitz breed will have a similar look, so your dog probably had some mixed in.  Most similar that I can think of, and that commonly come in black, are the Eurasier, Schipperke (pretty much looks like your dog without a tail), and the European Laika.

It's not a Belgium Sheepdog either.  Belgium Sheepdogs don't carry their tail like that.  Nor is it an Norwegian Elkhound, since they don't come in black.  Nor is the face the same as an elkhound.

The only breeds that I can think of offhand that look similar would be a Chow or German Spitz. They both come in black, and the Spitz comes in three sizes.

Get a Belgian Sheepdog, it will look very close to what you want. Google it and look at pictures, you may like.
