Balfour Declaration question?
The British Government's Balfour Declaration says that H.M.Government has no objection to the Jewish people making a homeland in Palestine ( then mandated to Britain by the League of Nations ) PROVIDED NOTHING IS DONE TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE INDIGENOUS INHABITANTS ( i.e, the Christian and muslim Palestinian population there )
In view of the latest vicious attack by the Zionist hard-liners on the people of Gaza , should the present British Government admit that was a naive expectation ?

No the present British government does not need to do anything. It was indeed a naive statement however Britain suffered at both the hands of the arabs in the form of revolt and the jewish terrorism of the stern gang such as the king david hotel bombing. Having tried its best Britain withdrew at the end of the mandate fulfilling its mandatory requirement to administer the area to the best of its abilities. This is the reason I believe that current British politic post mandate has been one of a temperate nature to both sides, calling on both sides to ceasefire and no longer putting itself to the forefront of negotiations. Britain has done its time in Palestine and all it needs to do is maintain its judeo-arabic business interests in places like Israel itself but also Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the growing gulf states (the former and latter also formally British protectorates with heavy involvement in Arabia in ww1 to boot). The current problems have not just been caused by Britain.
