is he just friendly or does he really like me?

this boy is my classmate for this year but not last year and I like him. We are also classmates with his girl classmate now. They are closer compare to me and him because they knew each other for a while. But everytime he asks for help or just share what happened to his day, he always talk to me. And he doesn't care whoever his company to but I know that he's more comfortable when he's with me. He can be crazy and talkative when he's with me but when others, he's very quiet. He's not shy when he's with me. We also have issues in our room because my other classmates thought there is something between us. I sometimes caught him looking at me but I smiled back and often, I can see at the side of my eye (you know what I mean) that he's looking at me or looking at the direction where I am. Please help me because I don't want to expect
