how to deal with a dogs rotten teeth.?
i asked a question liked this earlier but now i want to know something else.
a vet told my mother he had a rotten tooth in the back that needed to be removed.
so i went to check his teeth i could get a good look but when i looked at the back teeth i did not see anything out of the ordinary but again like i said he would not really let me look so i only got a second to look but i did notice his other teeth. like his canine teeth at the top are a bit grey or yellowish.
i never tried brushing his teeth before mainly because i knew the only way i would be able to do it is if he was asleep or knocked out otherwise i would never get near his teeth.
how do dogs teeth work can they get rotten like ours but not effect them the same way as we do.
and how do i clean them without brushing. should i buy more of those dental sticks for dogs.

They feel the same pain as we do. & a tooth ache is one of the worst things that can happen.
The dogs teeth need to come out. & the dog needs to be put under anesthesia to have this done.
When you look in the mouth you don't know what you are looking for so you don't see what the Vet sees. Trust your Vet that the dog has rotten teeth & they need to be removed & the rest of the teeth cleaned.

The dog needs the teeth removed. There is nothing you can do at home since its far too late. The teeth need to be pulled
A vet can tell if the teeth need to be puled or not. You can't.

Dogs don't get cavities like we do. The teeth can rot from gum disease or infection. They rot at the gum line at the roots. There wouldn't be any visible signs unless the tooth happens to move when touched.
It's good to brush your dogs teeth each week. It not only keeps the teeth healthy, it's mainly for the gums to stay healthy.
The yellowish color is tartar that has built up on your dogs teeth. I would have a dental cleaning done when they pull the bad tooth, because he will already be under anesthesia. Then you can go from there and keep his teeth clean and gums healthy.
If you don't want to do the dental cleaning, just make sure you brush them each week.
Your dog may not love having his teeth brushed in the beginning, but he will get use to it. Dog toothpaste comes in flavors like, chicken and beef. You also need to use a dog toothbrush or I use the one that is a little plastic cap that fits over my finger tip and it has bristles on it so I can brush his teeth easier.
My friend uses a wash cloth with dog toothpaste on it. I haven't tried that, but it works for her dog.

If your dog's teeth and gums have been neglected to this point, there's no product that's going to help. The dog needs a dental. Period. Neglecting teeth and gums can lead to serious health problems like heart and kidney disease as I'm sure the vet would have told you.

dogs teeth and gums get rotten just like a human. the vet can do dentistry to correct some of the decay. remember, you dog can't go to the vet himself. as a responsible pet owner, you have to take him
