Do you need or want to manipulate your images? If so, shoot raw+JPEG.
If you're looking for snapshots and don't want or need to post process your images, or minimally process your images, shoot JPEG.
If you know how to adjust the exposure of your camera, there is little need to shoot in raw. For me, I usually shoot JPEG for casual shooting since I hate fiddle farting about with post processing. If doing studio work or something I know will need post processing, I'll shoot raw.

If you just want photos for your own use then JPG is absolutely fine.
If you want to bother with manipulation afterwards, then RAW might amuse you.

I like to shoot in both. I shoot in basic jpeg so I can quickly show off my pix. I also shoot in raw so I have the ultimate material to work with in refining my pix.

It depends on what you do with your images...
If you like to experiment or fine tune your images in editing software then RAW is the way to go...RAW gives you more control over an image in software.
I personally don't shoot in RAW...if I was a commercial photographer and pleasing customers or clients was a priority then I would shoot in RAW...
It might be worth experimenting with both file types just to get some experience...I'd recommend joining a local camera club or taking an evening or weekend class in digital photography/editing just so you go about the whole process properly...some people struggle finding their way around editing software and having a tutor nearby is the best approach if you aren't familiar with the software.

it depends, if you do have a large memory then you could opt for the RAw since it gives the most vivid and highest resolution.

Shooting in RAW will assure the highest resolution, but that will also produce much larger files. All of this is in the manual. Read it.
