Why does my new memory make PC lockup?
I just got hold of some new memory for my pc, having used the crucial memory scanner it reported that i needed DDR3 10600 stick. So i got a DDR 10600 1333 mhz stick, only when i put it in the machine after around 5 minutes windows just locks up.
It is seated well as ive reinserted it couple of times, but it still happens, could the speed make it do this as this is 1333 could the other stick be 1600 and theyre incompatible.
The bios recognises it though, removed it works like it did....
anyone got any ideas

I've had this issue before. If they are different speeds of RAM, then they will never work together. Its very tricky to pair up old and new RAM cause they have to have nearly identical specifications other than the memory size. Best bet is to either get a refund on the new RAM and buy a larger amount of a particular model, or buy more of exactly what you have and put them together. Good Luck!

1. Check the memory stick with any memory testing software
2. Check out your mainboard manual, there might be some rules as to insertion order.
3. Ensure both sticks are set at 1333 speed in BIOS
If it doesn't help or the test shows something's wrong with memory, try to change it at vendor's.
One more thing that had helped in situations like this with old memories was reinstalling Windows on memory upgrade, but today's Windows should be ok with it.
Good luck!
