where to hire a manga artist?

so I had been getting into drawing as a hobby but I feel my drawing work is taking forever to improve the way I want it to be. earlier today I had the idea of if it is possible to hire a artist or someone who is really good in manga/anime work to pay them to teach me how to draw.

I did take a few mins to search this before i posted this but, wanted an opinion on this from someone else if it worked for them or has tried this.

:D

Try talking to people on Tumblr, DeviantArt, etc. You may also want to try conventions, nerdy/geeky shops that sell anime and manga, etc. If you have friends who are into anime, you can try to ask them if they draw it?

Everything I've heard about the industry states that unless you live in japan and are very skilled you don't have a chance at all. Comapnies here don't do anime/manga because the Japanese are so much better at it. They don't even like seeing it in your portfolio. The only solution is to go get hired by a Japanese company, and they rarely hire outsiders. You would have to be 'supernaturally talented'. Now you might be able to make your own comic with the style, and even get published by a small company. Certainly many artists show at least an influence, and many techniques have cropped over in comics, try reading Scott McCloud's books on the subject of comics making.

Currently I'm collaborating with a writer as her manga artist while doing my own mangas.

Now, you have to ask yourself if you really want to do everything yourself or if you are ok with collaborating.

And if you want to improve in drawing I found that it's not only about practicing. Sometimes you have to learn to observe better to draw better, whether it's manga or other style or classical academic type of art.

And I recommend watching art videos on Youtube. I think Mark Crilley is good to watch from since he has tips that help pretty much anyone from starting off to well, I wouldn't call myself a pro, maybe advanced but still learning.

Good luck, don't give up, and if you ever feel frustration know that it takes time and you can go back to drawing later. Unless you think your frustration can help you draw intense angry scene, of course. :)

You might want to try your local comic book shops

    or gaming shops.

They might have a customer or know of someone that is

a hobbyist manga artist that can help you.
