Regarding the draft, which would be a better change to enrollment requirements?

Currently, males aged 18-25 must register for "Selective Service" in the United States. Which of the following would be the better change, in your opinion?

1) Require females aged 18-25 to also register, to eliminate sex discrimination and share the burden more equally.

2) Eliminate the registration requirement for a subset of males, such as the Caucasian ones. This would be an incremental step towards possibly eliminating the draft entirely at some indeterminate point in the future.

3) Do not change the requirements. It is fine to exclude women on the basis of sex, but not to exclude Caucasians on the basis of race.

Please justify your choice, and indicate your sex or "gender."

Option 1 is the only fair thing to do if we as society truly care about equality and equal representation.

4.) Eliminate the military draft entirely.

If I can only choose from the options presented, then I choose 1. Fair is fair, amirite?

[Add] I get that sometimes military conscription is necessary (like if we're suddenly invaded by Russia, China, and the Middle East), in which case option 1 is the best option. However, selective service registration needs to be done away with, and only ever brought out when a draft is actually going to happen.

Since there isn't a draft and probably won't be, I'd rather not answer this now. If I'm not mistaken, the exemptions and inclusions were altered for each war that used draft conscription, so future exclusions and inclusions should be discussed when and if we ever need to use it again. But since we aren't lawmakers, we are free to go on about irrelevant laws.

Any revision to the system would need to ensure that America and families are not destroyed. If a couple has a child but is still of draftable age, it would be beyond stupid to conscript both parents and put the kid in foster care. The way the rules were written helped prevent that type of problem while it created the injustice you are talking about. That gender injustice should be fixed (if our country ever returns to the injustice of conscripting soldiers in the first place), but it shouldn't be fixed in a way that causes bigger problems than inequality.

Between those options, 1. But I don't support the draft anyway. They should all be people who are willing, not forced.
