Want to learn German. Already know French, how hard?
English is my first language, and I can read/write/speak without issue.
I also speak, read, and write(considerably well) French. I was raised with French, so I don't have much of an accent either.
That being said, how hard is it to learn German with these languages already learnt?
I know that for an only-english speaker, German grammar will be difficult because of the genders or something.
Considering french also has a gender system to it's grammar, how difficult will it then be to take on?
I know this is a question asked quite a bit: "How hard to learn X language", but I wish to know what benefits knowing another one might have in conjunction with English.
Thanks, that would be all.

English is somewhat similar to German, but German and French really don't have much of a connection. English is my first language, I learned German, and I'm currently learning French. German is much easier than both English and French when it comes to pronunciation. German words are actually spelled the way they sound, unlike both English and French. I also found it easier to understand German words than French.
That being said, German is harder in every other way. The grammar is a pain, there are three genders in German as opposed to two in French, the word ordering can be tricky etc...
But if you already know two languages, and if you're determined enough, you should be able to overcome these obstacles. Good luck!

I would agree with EDR and add one more difficulty with German: there is no rule for you to go by to determine gender of nouns. In French if it ends in an "e' it is often feminine. In German you must memorize each noun's gender to be correct 100% f the time ( and to sound native).
I grew up hearing German so it is no problem for me to pronounce it. Again as EDR said, the linguistic term is that German "as a good fit" meaning it is pronounced as written. It is fun to speak it. There is a LOT of funny humour among Germans which my wife says "just doesn't quite translate" to English. I would say German is harder than French if you are starting from no knowledge of it. But eventually you will make sense of it and enjoy it a lot. For me, the end goal is travel in the country of origin and enjoying it because of he language ability. You will not regret learning German.
