Is it okay to mix metals/colors in engagement and wedding rings?
For example, a yellow gold engagement ring and a white gold or tungsten wedding band or a titanium wedding band with a rose gold engagement ring?

Ultimately, it's not going to look great.
There are some rings designed specifically as a set - but you don't want to pick one ring separately and then another.
Dissimilar metals also sometimes cause reactions even if they by themselves are fairly stable - so you could find a few years down the road, you have some oxidation or tarnish or irritation occuring as a result.
It's chemistry - and hopefully your chemistry with your husband is better than that. So no, in order to symbolize your harmony with your husband, you want to choose the same metal for your rings.

I actually love tri color jewelry and my engagement ring is tri color. The band ended up being platinum and rose gold.
I get tons of compliments and these were custom made. However, if I had it to do over, I'm not so sure I'd do the same thing. I have a hangup about whether it "goes" with colors like red. It looks great with black, white, and brown type colors, but I'm just not crazy about how it looks with brighter ones. People say it's all in my head, but that doesn't change anything!
PS - Not that you asked but these were also my wedding colors. I truly love tri color.

It looks wonderful. I love the mix and match idea. Personally, I feel that it brings a new look to all the bands and the rings, plus it also makes you look so creative!

You're the one wearing it, so as long as you're okay with it, that's what matters.
