Why cant I recycle all my plastic?
All my plastic food containers have the recycle logo on the bottom but my town will only take #1 and 2 but a lot of my food containers are 3, 4, and 5 and also says to recycle on them. Why is that?

PETE (#1) and HDPE (#2) are the most valuable plastics to recycle. The others could be used to make plastic lumber but there isn't enough of a market to pay for the collection and processing. BTW, the recycling numbers run up to 7 (other).

Councils are only doing the minimum they are being legally obliged to. Only the gullible are falling for this green carp really.
