is this camera good for skateboarding?

Yes the Sony DSLR will do fine for your purpose. I however would not own a Sony as they would not stand behind a radio I bought from them! Even though out of warranty, I truthfully tolled them that, offered to pay for the repair w/estimate of course, and they said they do not repair out of warranty items. Wether this pertains just to radio's or extends to every product I do not know! So I choose a Pentax, it is more compact, it will accept lenses dating back to when cameras used film. The stabilization factor is in the camera body not each lens purchased as with Canon & Nikon. And most important the eyeglass adjustment is wider than most other cameras, which with a strong eyeglass prescription is important to me.
