Why are some people still mentally messed up even 5 years after being raped?

well it depends on the person's mental stability. some people are stronger then other and some are not. you should help her to get out of her past and if she doesn't want to date somebody then don't force her, try to keep her happy. maybe she will take some more time for her to recover from that horrible event! being raped is not al little thing its a serious issue and can have a big impact on people's life.

Because they get traumatised, nothing is her fault rape brings many problems to the victim they start to have a fear of men, fear of going out, being alone with a male yet they still get terrified.

I have been sexually abused at the age of 6 I'm now 17 and guess what? I am absolutely terrified of being alone with a male even my TEACHERS it is scary and if you put yourself in her position you would get a glimpse of what she is feeling.

Rape can scar a person for life. Ask someone who has experienced it first hand and you'll see. Besides, bieng raped or abused is something that's very hard to let go of. But 5 years? I've been abused since I was abused by teachers at age 8 *Don't ask* but even then, it stopped and I let go and learned to have fun doing the things I like. Yes, people were raped, most likely by celebrities and other people they thought they could trust, but come on, just let it go, you have the right to tell someone and report it, but don't let it prevent you from having fun.

Because it's a traumatizing thing, 5 years is not even enough, I think it's something you could never let go of no matter how much you try. It's a painful experience that, unfortunately many women have to go through

I don't understand why women take so long to recover. I've had the **** beat out of me on the street almost to death, and it only took me a few months to get over that. People need to learn to let things go. Otherwise its just a weakness that restricts you.
