    I might get a bit of 'stick' for this reply...

    I'd buy the D5100...it's an absolute steal...and a great camera for a beginner.

    I use one myself - and i'm not a beginner..!

    I would say that depend on you and what you expect from a camera. I recently upgraded my Canon from a

    500D to a 600D. Spent what seems like a lot of money to me but the features I wanted are there so to me

    it was worth it. Will the £'s be worth it to you? Only you can answer that.

    Not really, you get 10 more megapixels, but since most monitors can't even show more than 3MP (1920 x 1080), those 24 aren't that necessary for the majority of people. Other than that, there's 4 vs 3fps.
