If you think Kendrick Lamar "sucks" or is even just "average", then I'm convinced that you've either never heard his music, or you just don't like how mainstream he's become. I guarantee you, there's not a whole lot of underground artists that can stand their ground against Kendrick Lamar. He hasn't compromised his style at all, and look at his impact. It's inspiring to me that someone as talented as he is can capture an audience so large. But hey, I guess it doesn't matter how talented you are nowadays. If you're mainstream, that automatically makes you a terrible artist.
