This new answers format doesn't make any sense....?
I so wish it would go back to the older and more efficient format. Now the addition of media is a nice option, but not necessary.
Where in the blazes do we click to submit an answer? The other day I figured out that it was that slim little blue strip to the far right. Today there is no little blue strip.
Also, I was much cleaner looking and more efficient the way were able to chose a selection. What is going on??

If you click on a question, right underneath it there should be a box with "Add your answer" in it. Answering on the new format is now inline, so you write your answer right on the same page as the question.
I, too, feel like this new format is completely awful. I've stuck with it for the time being in order to get used to it (as it seems that Y!A is unlikely to revert back to the older format), but I've been uncovering more and more bugs every day (as well as design/functional flaws).
Some defects off the top of my head:
- Editing an answer which has certain characters (for example, the plus sign) and saving your edited answer will remove those characters. I've written many math answers, and upon editing them, all my plus signs were removed. For P&D, if I wrote C Plus Plus (with plus signs) initially, then edited my answer, only C would be left. Huge issue.
- There will sometimes be a mismatch between the category headers and the actual page contents. I have experienced several times where, for example, "Card Games" will be the header, even though I was browsing Programming & Design questions. Most likely this is the fault of their new dynamic question loading scripts and/or a slow internet connection.
Some elements of bad design / lost functionality (in my opinion):
- Answer box is not resizable. (Granted, I wrote my own Greasemonkey script to fix this for the time being; it works with the Answer box, but not the Edit Answer box.)
- The "What's your Source" box is now just an input field instead of a textarea. That means I can only write a single line for my sources, or have them all squished on one line (not nice).
- Multiple fixed headers. On a laptop with a small screen like mine, having multiple headers that follow me as I scroll down the page makes everything feel squashed and, IMO, is not good use of screen real estate. (Unlike the first issue, it seems the fixed header functionality is implemented in JavaScript, so writing a GM script to get around it isn't easy.)
- The Preview option is no longer available.
- All your activity is conglomerated into one feed, making it very difficult to find and sort out your own answers and questions. I like to be able to see if a question I answered had been resolved or in voting, and this was easy in the old format. In the new format, it's a complete pain.

The new format is just about unusable, as far as I'm concerned. I've been using Y!A Canada, it still has the old format (see link).
That being said, I haven't seen a problem finding where to answer. When viewing all questions, hovering over the title should show a blue box to the right that you can click to answer. Or you can click the title of the question, which brings up a new screen with Question....Adverts...A box with 'Add your Answer', and the Submit button. Haven't seen that not work.
Things that make it unusable for me:
• Can't resize the answer box. The default size is just too small for answering questions like this one where I babble on for too many paragraphs.
• No Preview! It is very difficult to get code to look right, even in the old format. I don't like to post code that doesn't look right (or that gets cut off). Preview is essential to get around the lack of a decent WYSIWIG edit box.

I agree. But I have about gotten use to the new format. And I am actually getting to like it.
I am having no problems with the new format.
