Diffculties for developing countries in world trade?

At school we're talking about developing countries, their politics and economy. I was wondering why it is so hard for them in world trade even though they have all the important commodities?

To benefit from trade, a country must be able to produce a product that is acceptable in quality and quantity to trading partners.  Additionally, the country must be better at producing that product than they are at producing other products.  They need not be better at producing it than their trading partner, just better than other things they could be doing with the resources.  A third requirement is that there must be a country with whom to trade that is better at something else that the first country needs.
