Filipinos, What is your feelings after Megan Young wins Miss World 2013?

I feel she is a great choice for World 2013, because she is a good looking hot babe. Sometimes I am disappointed in Beauty Pageants, because the winners do not seem to be the most attractive contestant, or worse, the winners seem to be selected for some political reasons, and are not even more attractive than chicks you may see out on the street or in nightclubs any day of the week. The recent Miss America winner was a good looking Indian chick, yes she is a good looking babe, however she is far from being a stunning knock out superstar in the looks and body category, and so she was a disappointment to me, personally, so I suspect some politics tainted the Miss America pageant in 2013.

Megan Young is a hands down awesome looking hot babe with world class looks and body, and makes a fine Miss World 2013.

Megan Young won a beauty contest-good for her, but she is NOT a candle of hope to the average Filipina who would not even be considered for such a contest, they would be told they are too short, too dark and their nose is not pointy enough for the Eurocentric judges. Megan young is a wealthy Mestiza who was born and spent the first 10 years of her life in the United states. She had a fortunate start to life, one which millions of Filipino people do not, she received a good education because her father had the money to provide it for her, and her beauty is not something gained through hard work and determination but is simply good genetics which she had no control over. Do I consider her Filipino? Yes her mother is Filipino, she is a Filipino citizen herself and therefore is a Filipino-however it does irritate me that so many Filipinos are so quick to claim someone like her as one of their own, when you can guarantee before she was famous she would very much have been treated like a foreigner in the Philippines, she would have been overcharged everywhere she went with the exception of places where there are fix prices like malls, she would have also been called Americana to her face and in muttering behind her back while walking down the streets of the Philippines whether this was done with admiration and as a compliment or not is not the point, the real point is that she was not Filipino enough then so why then when a Mestiza/Mestizo becomes famous or successful are they all of a sudden part of the club? Anyone here who thinks I dislike Filipinos or Filipino Mestizos is wrong, I don't, I just wish Mestizos would be treated equally when they are not famous, not treat superior or inferior, The Jolly bee commercial with Jessica Sanchez said it all, the words were welcome home Jessica!-she had never been to the Philippines in her life before her time on American Idol, and from a Philippine tv interview in Manila with a live link to her Filipino relatives in the province it was clear that those people were pretty much strangers to her, not relatives that she had close contact with by any means, was more fuss made of her because she looks like a typical Filipina despite having a Mexican father?. I also wish that Malay Filipinos would not look to European looking people as a standard of beauty, Malays Filipinas can be just as beautiful as Mestiza Filipinas. Manny Pacquiao is a person who through hard work has achieved a lot and has given a lot back to the people, he is a much closer representation of a idol, though don't take the Pride thing to far, he is after all still just a man not a god based on his Filipino-ness.

She is considered to be a hope just like you said despite the fact that we never won this contest for the past 21 years? But Ms. Young is just like the long list of Filipina that we have that won beauty contest such as this one or the Ms. Universe that is now considered to be elusive for the Filipina. The last one was in 1973 if I am not mistaken.

What worry me most is that since an actress won a beauty contest like this one, most of the contestant that the organizer will put into beauty contest are from the show business because of their beauty and flawless skin. I hope not. There are more important things to worry about in the Philippines than mere beauty contest.

that's an odd representation of her - as a candle of hope - as if winning miss world would bring any hope to the crisis in philippines. we could win a million miss world titles but will the crisis end on it? of course not.

i'm not a fan of "grading" and judging the beauty of women all over the world. megan represented the philippines, she won the title but as far as the crisis in philippines is concerned, she's nowhere near the word HOPE. megan winning the title is one thing, the philippine media should stop linking unnecessary chains to it with the rest of the on-going crisis. media should stop clinging on to her title like she's a savior, that's one characteristic of pinoys love to do so much, don't put your hopes on other people.

It's not often I comment on a contest like this one. My favorite was Marine ( Miss France) she's absolutely beautiful and talented, come from a very good family. Her father is an architect, regular job, outstanding position even in the society. Miss France has a very good skill specially on the medicine side. She's going to be a doctor therefore she has weakness to unfortunate people. Miss Philippines got no idea about her whereabouts, but when I saw them both standing side by side, I must admit although Marine is beautiful and pretty, miss Philippines is more refine and more attractive. She got an aura. Felicitations to the country.

What an interesting trivia! Those women are not only beautiful, they have good taste too. And lucky are the Filipino men who were at the right place at the right time.

Well, she is a Fil-Am. And last time I checked, some Filipinos have been trying to differentiate Fil-Ams from Filipinos proper.

OMG, who the **** cares. The only reason why I would if it some how miraculously turned the Philippine into a 1st world country, while still keeping their independence and traditions.

She stays true as a Filipina and has indeed prepared for the contest after hearing her answers. With that, she is well-educated and is not hesitant to lend a helping hand to her fellow Filipinos.
