How do I update my drivers for free without having to take AVG Secure Search?
The refurbished PC I bought in 2006 still works fine but needs updated drivers. There are many websites offering free system scans on the condition that you accept AVG Secure Search with it. Pressing "decline" doesn't mean anything. It still downloads into your computer. I don't want AVG because it slows down my system and it can be very difficult to uninstall. Is there an all-in-one website that will scan my system and provide the links I need to update my drivers? Any help would be appreciated.

never use driver scanners from anywhere but the PC manufacturer site
most of them are scams and some are total malware
the only time you need to update drivers is:
- for an OS upgrade
eg. changing from XP to win 7 etc.
- for security reasons
eg. driver has security hole in it and is being actively exploited
- for stability reasons
eg. driver has a glitch or causes crash under certain situations on the system
who made your system
HP / Compaq go to HP website
Dell go to Dell website
Toshiba go to Toshiba website
etc.
