Are handicapped parking permits reciprocally accepted in all provinces and states?

Yes an out of province or state permit is valid in the BLUE zone. Some have different rules

To make sure you can check on line use google search handicapped parking(place) to get any special rules.

Some it is just where you should display your blue card.

Travel safe and just check for local rules.

The card is valid just check for local rules on where you cannot use it. It applies to ALL with the Blue card

Legally, no.

I have heard of out of province people getting a ticket for using their own permits, which by law, are not the correct ones for that jurisdiction. However, this sort of thing is rare.

The big problem is that most people have no idea what the official permits look like in other places. It would be pretty easy to fake something if you are travelling to another place. And, the laws that provide for the parking places can be very specific as to what is required, and the out of jurisdiction systems will not meet those requirements.

However, while not exactly legal, I cannot imagine many tickets being written for something like this. While not "officially" accepted, I am sure that they would be unofficially accepted.

Perhaps....... It depends on the place, and the enforcement agency.

Here in Ontario, the placard is issued to the PERSON, not the vehicle.....So, if the person NAMED on the placard is NOT there, a ticket CAN be issued, even if the vehicle is in a marked "Handicapped parking space ". A lot of able bodied people cheat that way, by using Gran Ma's placard.

In the USA, it is a hit or miss kind of thing, depending, as I said on who is looking at it.

E.G. Emiratus, yes they are. We are recognized in Ontario, PEI and Nova Scotia, when one drives from Quebec. In Quebec, out of Province handicapped permits are recognized, as long as they are the blue permits, issued by the provincial department of motor vehicles.

I have had no issues using my BC one in WA, PA, MD and WV.
