What is wrong with old horror films? Please advise.?
Really what is wrong with old horror films. I am getting sick of seeing questions asked about horror films that say nothing old of from 2000-2013. Can someone advise the reason? I am 36 and I grew up watching old horror films from the 30-70's you are missing out on a lot of good cinema.

Absolutely nothing. They're just hoodwinked by all the glitter/glam/CGI of Hollywood who only looks back to remake/rehash old classics.

Personally I don't get scared by them at all. When I watch a horror movie i expect to be covering my eyes and afraid to look at the screen. Old horror movies just don't make me do that. I don't understand why people find The Shining or The Exorcist scary. Obviously for its time it was, but people, especially me, have become desensitized to that stuff. Don't get me wrong, they're good movies, but they just don't scare me. Plus a lot of people probably don't like watching old movies as they think they aren't very good. The horror movies i watch are modern ones that aren't from Hollywood. Hollywood horror movies aren't scary either - like the producers think if its too scary they won't get such a wide audience and won't make as much money. Plus they use a sh*t ton of CGI which isn't scary at all - anyone see 'Mama' for example? Independent modern horror movies that nobody has heard about are the best ones. I especially like found footage ones that really make you feel like you're there with the people in that situation like The Tunnel, Lake Mungo, Haunted Changi and 7 Nights of Darkness. Ever heard of them? You should check them out and see what modern independent horror is really about
