Whats your take on this ESPN fantasy match up of Chavez Sr vs Canelo Alvarez?

I was browsing through the boxing section of espn and I stumbled upon article on this match up. Either these writers were bored out of their minds or are really bought in the Canelo hype train.

Here's the link: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/9508098/julio...

The main flaw that I have noticed in their analyses was that all the writers failed to establish the juncture or common points in their respective careers where a match up between the two could have been viably made even from the mythical point of view. Chavez was at his best prime at lightweight and early stage of his stint at 140 lbs. but he was never a factor above 140 lbs. losing by crushing TKO to Oscar de la Hoya in his only significant fight at 147 lbs. Alvarez started at welterweight but has only began showing maturity currently at junior middleweight.

A Chavez win from the point of view of all the writers/analysts is inevitable and natural given the fact that they seemed to base their analyses largely on a fight at 135 and 140 lbs divisions where Chavez was at his strongest peak and whereI think Canelo never saw action in his pro career despite having met and beaten a few blown up lightweights in his rise such as Miguel Vasquez, Jose MIguel Cotto and Matthew Hatton.

I think it's quite unfair to Canelo.

lol this is retarded. Typical for ESPN though, they don't know sh*t about boxing.

It's like Julio Cesar Chavez is the only other Mexican fighter they knew of, so they were like "how about Canelo vs JCC?". What a bright idea.
