Where's the best viewing of the Halifax Canada Day fireworks?

They usually shoot if from a barge in the middle of the harbour between the ferry terminal and Pier 21. But that area is usually absolutely insane with tons of people. You'd have to get there about an hour early to get a good spot and expect to take about an hour to get out of the city afterwards because of traffic. But great viewing.

However, you can get just as good viewing on the Dartmouth side. It's typically less crowded and you get to have the Halifax skyline as the backdrop.

The two best places over there are around the 2 ferry terminals: Alderney Gate and Woodside.

The Woodside Ferry terminal has a lot of grass area right beside it that a lot of people go to. It's a little further away but you can see clearly. You just look towards downtown Halifax to see the fireworks.

Alderney Gate Ferry is right in downtown Dartmouth. THAT place will be crowded because there's a live free concert happening there. You get to listen to music. They stop for the fireworks. Then they keep playing until late.

Another great spot on the Dartmouth side is trying to find a spot on the hill facing the harbour on the Dartmouth Commons.

No matter where you go. It's going to be nuts busy. But nothing like the Halifax waterfront.

But...that's all depending on if the rain ends before then. If it rains, they'll cancel the fireworks.
