Most legit websites are free. Some will charge you if you want a printed/framed certificate, but there is no reason you should have to pay just to get ordained online.

Online ordinations are legally recognized in all 50 U.S. States for the purpose of officiating a wedding.

The United States constitution prevents the government from recognizing one church more than another. The government does not differentiate between an online ordination or one performed by the Roman Catholic Church.

Without even getting into the legality of it, as each state and sometimes county is different, a question you want to know is how long does it take to become good at officiating?

As an officiant, most of the last minute requests I get from frantic brides is because a friend or family member has backed out at the last minute.

A good eye for how everything fits together and comfortable public speaking mannerisms do not come over night.

American Marriage Ministries is a non-denominational, interfaith Church, where you can become ordained to perform marriage. It is the only one I could find that has BBB membership. You can buy the certificate as well as other goods but they let you download a PDF for free and they give you a minister ID for free.

It's free if you go through a church, but then that usually takes 2 years (depending on which faith) of good conduct and solid following of the requirements.

I've heard that some online courses offer ordaining for $40.

Of course, that would have to be a course recognized by your state.

I've actually looked into this and the absolute most I've seen is $115, however in seeing the average cost to be around $30-$40. Good luck:)
