How did Gray die in Fairy Tail?

Well, gray is pierced through the chest several times, and then through the head. So he's not coming back due to the fatal blow. But there's a chance that Ultear will make herself useful and use her powers to resurrect him.

And on twitter, Hiro Mashima, ( creator of Fairy tail ) tweeted:

So I doubt Gray is going to die. One, he's a main character. Plus Gray is pretty popular with the fans. And two, his death accomplishes nothing. In literature, death does two things. For villains, death is the ultimate comeuppance. It's their just reward for all their evil deeds. For bad guys who turn good, death is the ultimate redemption. When they sacrifice themselves to save someone, they are forgiven their sins. For people close to the heroes, death pushes their character in a new direction. Gray's "death" does none of these things. He just dies very brutally. And I doubt he's going to pull an Aerith. He would never be forgiven if he did. So I'll wait for next week.

Well I just got done reading this chapter of Fairy Tail. It showed Gray shoving Juvia away from the dragon attacks. He sacrificed himself to save her. He got shot multiple times in the chest and once in the head. I really hope that Ultear will do some kind've magic to save him. Just hope he wont die. Gray is like one of the main people so i kinda don't think he'll die. I almost smashed my laptop after reading the manga.

logically he cant die, i mean think about it, the events leading up to now involved natsu and co talking to that dead dragon in astral form, as well as a few other events in an alternate timeline. since the past remained unaltered, as in, after the dragons were brought to the present, that means they eventually wind up going back. im pretty sure i read somewhere, perhaps on the wiki, that everyone comes out unharmed because of some time-flux thing that happens when lucy reverses the gate, it undoes all the damage, except for the immediate local damage done to buildings and such, and peoples memories, but everyone is meant to come out unscathed, the same would apply to gray. I mean think, if future rogue doesnt exist how can he have caused a dragon to have babies and kill gray? It cant happen. Anyway, gray being killed so easily will probably lead to all kinds of important others to come out dead too, or crippled, like that fat guy, i think he reffered to his injury as paralysis, as if right? Without a doubt, everything will go really dark, natsu will beat future rogue, then, lucy will close the gate and everyones actions but lucy will end up being completely redundant.

I don't read the manga, cause I will watch the Anime soon, but my friends told me that Gray Fullbuster is dead. Why? What reason?

Well in the recent chapter of Fairy Tail. Chapter 334 Gray got shot down with multiple shots aiming his chests, head and arms. (sorry if I'm wrong!) He pushed Juvia out of the way and sacrificed himself. Since the shot was aimed at Juvia.

in the recent chapter of fairy tail chapter 334 Grey saves Juvia from getting hit by laser beams (or something like that) from the mouths of dragons that have been appearing the the recent arc of Fairy Tail, this results in grey getting pierce several times through the chest and head. it is a very tragic event :( the reason why he saves Juvia is most likely from pure instinct, so he could save his comrade.

He got shot up by a dragon. Even though it looks like he is dead he is not dead. I bet Ultear is going to bring him back to life with her time arc and die in the processes

I don't think he will die. Perhaps Ultear will make something to sacrifice herself to save him, just like Chiyo baa sama did to Gaara.

He got shot in the chest, the rest of his upper body, and his head. We don't know if he died for certain, however there is a high chance he did.

This is shown on pages 21-23 in Chapter 334.
