Id like to book a hotel room for my daughter in NYC.?

She's 16 and since I won't be able to go to her I will be booking it online. Will she be able to get the room if she can show confirmation at check in?

    I would say that you are NOT the mother, but the 16 year old kid. You also asked the same question about your "son", but in Las Vegas!

    She has to be with an adult, no matter if you book the room and confirm it. The age of consent for a hotel is 18 and some hotels require of 21.

    Beside it is not safe to leave a young woman in this city alone without a chaperon.

    No - you have to be at least 18 to CHECK IN to a hotel room in the US. Some hotels require that you be 21 or even 25. Your permission will not suffice. There has to be a legal adult checking in to the room and staying in it with her. Youth hostels are really the only option for teens.

    No. Minimum check in age is 18. And anyone under that age should not be traveling alone. If something happens, they cannot receive medical treatment - no one to sign consent. If they are lost or in trouble, social services will become involved and thats not a good thing. I hear child endangerment written all over this!

    No. It is illegal for a child under the age of 18 to stay in a hotel alone and irresponsible for a parent to think it's alright.
