How do I copy a VLC audio file?
A friend of mine gave me some Beatles CDs and I'm trying to put together the ultimate Beatles music collection. It will be in mp3 format on a blank DVD. This collection will consist of 30 albums worth of music on one DVD. I already had most of it, but my friend gave me a few missing CDs. The problem is some of his CDs are in bad condition and they either skip or bypass the songs completely. Is there a way I can copy those songs from other CDs and move them into the proper slot on the messed up CDs. I know how to label it and move it, I just can't figure out how to copy the song without moving it completely. Isn't there a way you can copy one song and put it somewhere while leaving the original behind? The left button on the mouse gives an option to copy but when I press it, nothing happens. These are VLC audio files. I've been working on this project for two days and I've already wasted 4 blank DVDs. I thought I finally had it all together only to find out a song skipped or was totally missing. If would great if there was a way to test a file you're going to burn before using a blank disc. This is going to be a fantastic collection if I can ever get it done. I'm thinking of adding a second DVD disc to include all five of their movies. I would appreciate any help with this.

I tried doing what your doing once that is archive my whole music collection onto DVD. And Nero has a function in it to make what they call a "jukebox DVD" and you can preview the tracks but you cannot "swop" the order around you have to drag and drop one file at a time the first one being the first track etc.
But I gave up with that idea, because i found some domestic DVD players couldnt read the disk (some could the better brands) even though they said they were MP3 compatible and played ok from a pendrive some seem to favor audio from the USB, but not only that some don't like variable bit rates and ironically didn't like bit rates above about 220KBS.
So in general I found CDs better more compatible and less prone to scratches and so on. Also apparently what i said with Nero depends on the version some of versions 8 automatically put tracks in alphabetical order which is not want you want unless you want to go down the road of renaming tracks.
So Nero may or may not suit.

on your first question right click on vlc's preview screen - view - click advanced controls - play your music and press the red record button and press it a 2nd time to stop, the audio file wil be saved in My Music file folder and videos will be saved in My Videos file folder
