Why are some Brits here so disrespectful during such a time for them?
Maggie Thatcher is gone. Here, in the United States, she would be like a former president, as we do not get the queen thing. When a president dies, past or present, for us, it is a huge deal, and it is on television all day, and you NEVER read or hear a nasty thing at all. Flags are lowered, people cry, I mean, the guy was our PRESIDENT. What's up with this ugliness from the Brits about Maggie? So not like you. Not a class act, at all, not some of the stuff posted here.
EDIT: I know as a Conservative, that Libs would not dance and cheer if Bush #41 or #43 were to die.
In death of any kind, we come together as Americans.

Many people who she stood up to and won against, like the unions and nationalized industries that were slowly killing Britain, are still angry about her policies. They would rather that the UK were still the "sick man of Europe" as long as it means they get a fatter paycheck at someone else's expense. Some clearly haven't gotten over that.

About 95% of the UK population had their lives made 'significantly' more difficult by Thatcher. Even today her misery continues, as our streets are still filled with homeless people! She almost completely destroyed Scotland & Wales! Her supporters constantly boast that she did that which required doing, but, in reality, she sold off the country's wealth generating assets (even a child can understand the stupidity of doing that) rendered the UK entirely dependent upon foreign fuel imports (something which still sees money hemorrhaging out of this country) put more than 5 million people out of work, set in motion the wheels which will result in the UK suffering its worst economic slump ever (which hasn't happened yet) and completely ignored anybody that ever tried to advise her! Until the day that I die I will place Thatcher in the same group as Hitler and Stalin! She won three elections, numbers two and three were through cheating! I will spit on her grave if I ever see it! Even the Conservatives came to their senses and finally sacked her! British people aren't being disrespectful towards Thatcher: This is how she should be remembered! How can such evil people achieve such power?

No, she was not important. No other PM got a state funeral except Churchill and she was no Churchill. She did not deserve a state funeral. This cost the British taxpayers 10 million pounds, thats why they are upset, in view of austerity measures imposed on them. She represented the upper class and was as bad as Reagan in the U.S. I hated them both.
