What is my ASVAB score?

Here are the raw numbers I got from a sample ASVAB test.

I'll keep this formula going down the list but it may not always line up perfectly, but the #s are in the same spots:

Section---Qs---Right---Wrong---Correct %

General science---25---18---7---72%

Arithmetic reasoning---30---22---8---73%

Word Knowledge---35---29---6---82%

Paragraph Comp.---15---13---2---86%

Math. Knowledge---25---20---5---80%

Electronics Info.---20---8---12---40%

Auto&Shop Info.---25---19---6---76%

Mechanical Comp.---25---16---9---64%

Assembling Objcts.---25---21----4---84%

I have looked online but not gotten a straight answer anywhere, if anyone knows how to do the official calculation or has a source I should provide this information to so as to get a real score please let me know. I am interested in all branches of the military except for Coast Guard, and National Guard. I want to know what, if any, I am qualified for and what direction the MOS might recommend based on my score.

When people say "ASVAB score", what they are really talking about is the AFQT score.

The formula is 2VE (which is PC and WK) + MK + AR, then into the table to determine the percentile. The following explains it:

    http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/...

If you notice, only four sections factor into the AFQT. The rest are known as "line scores", and only impact whether you qualify for certain specialties, not the overall "ASVAB score".

If you are trying to compute your AFQT from your raw scores (how many you got right).....the short answer is that you can't. The questions are weighted according to how hard they are, and the official score sheet of the real test doesn't tell you the weightings. For this reason, none of the sample tests try to calculate the AFQT, because it wouldn't be accurate. In general though, yours look pretty decent. The raw scores for the parts that count are AR (73%), WK (82%), PC (86%) and MK (80%). Keep in mind what I listed are percentages, not percentiles (how you did in comparison to everyone else), which is the scale of the AFQT. While you probably won't be an Electronics Technician, that part doesn't count in the AFQT.

If I had to guess, your AFQT will be solidly in the 80s.

    Good luck!
