Since Vermont is first to post the premiums under Obamacare, are these prices that we expected?

"Vermont’s insurance exchange will be served by two companies, MVP Health, based in Schenectady, New York, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont. "

...

"Without the subsidies, premiums would start at $202 a month for a single person under 30 buying a stripped-down 'catastrophic' plan sold by MVP Health, according to the statement released yesterday by Vermont. 'Platinum' coverage for an entire family, the most expensive available, would cost $1,728 a month from MVP or $1,698 from Blue Cross Blue Shield. "

These are the after prices for the Affordable Care Act. What are the before prices?

Update:

Agreed. I gave only part of the story. Of course, the tax credits in the Affordable Care Act will lower the costs to the consumer. The part I am interested is whether the premiums prices jumped up or rose a little accordingly to normal medical inflation. If the previous premiums for a platinum coverage were 1600 an month, that is not a big jump for health insurnce rates.

I like how you only give PART of the story and the black BS artist above me sucks it in hook line and sinker....WITHOUT subsidies those would be prices.....as it sits now it will be $134 a month....ouch oh..please stop....that hurts so much...ouch.......dumb dumbs.....read the WHOLE story. Don't' just take bits and pieces out of it like you usually do.

The Vermont rates provide an initial analysis of how much health insurance may cost Americans nationwide as the law’s core provision kicks in next year. In Vermont, a couple earning $32,000 a year would pay about $134 a month after U.S. subsidies for a certain level of coverage that would have cost them $248 under the state’s existing program, according to a comparison document published by the state.

The tax credit subsidy is standard under Obamacare. Each state has different insurance rates. Here is a link.

The CBO is now saying that Obamacare is going to cost us 250-300% more than we were originally told.

If you are dissatisfied with the ACA for any reason don't blame Republicans.
