both, any way a deathtouch creature deals damage will activate the deathtouch effect

If a creature with deathtouch hits a creature that regenerates, it will now not have taken injury, on account that the deathtouch would not of hit it in the first situation. Regenerate approach to preclude all injury that was dealt to it, usually "dodging" the attacks, thus it would dodge deathtouch.
