Where did my Top Contributor" badge disappear to?
It suddenly appeared a week or two ago with no warning, fanfare or congratulations Now the bloody thing's gone again just as abruptly. Did I dream it up? Ah well, easy come, easy go... in a way I'm relieved as it seemed to suggest I was in some way being endorsed and sponsored by the Yahoo machine and I worried it was compromising my independent viewpoint.
Maybe I said something Yahoo didn't approve of?

The TC badges come and go based on a whimsical formula that YAHOO uses to determine who is eligible and who is not.
It is based on a number of variables such as;
- time spent in a section
- position of Mercury in relation to Mars
- number of best answers
- where a Staffer has an itch
- number on questions answered
- the tides
Amazingly; it has absolutely no relationship whatsoever to the quality of the members answers, only the quantity.

The badge is dynamic, if you don't keep up the same level of answering that earned it, it will go away. Normally 1-4 weeks of not answering in your TC category will do it, once in a rare while 5 or 6 weeks. The badge is awarded (and removed) on Mondays.

The TC designation is dynamic and can be removed if your percentage of BA and answers in a category drops below the Yahoo requirement. If that happens spend a little more time in that category answering questions and quite possibly you will regain the designation.
