yes he does, he has signals for what the batter is supposed to be doing, i.e. take, swing away, bunt, must bunt, hit and run, which the last one kinda answers the questions the hit and run is a signal that is designed and given to both the batter and the runner at the same time, the hit and run is not the only one there are many many combinations of sign just kinda depends on how technical your coach wants to get and how much your players can consume but if they have been playing baseball for awhile it's not hard for them at all to comprehend all of the signals, my son's a catcher so he has all of those plus all of the rest he has to deal with, to the pitcher wether he is throwing down if he is doing a snap throw to a base and then he has to give signals to his entire team by certain things the coach signals him to signal to the team, it sounds complicated but its really not that bad
