What kind of harness should I get for a husky to pull with?

You need a harness that will distribute weight properly across the chest and shoulders and clips on the back, not the front. You should look into skijoring harnesses.

You need a harness that is made for dogs to PULL things with. The pet store kinds won't work for that. You can probably get something reasonably simple made out of nylon but I think pulling harnesses are usually custom made. Don't take that as being written in stone. See what Nordkyn Outfitters and other harness makers (for dogs) might have to offer.

You will not find a suitable weight pulling harness at a pet store. The ones you buy for walking will INJURE your dog if you attempt to use it for weight pulling.

Find a properly fitted x-back racing harness if the dog will be pulling a light load at a fast pace.

To get a proper harness for even light weight pulling you will have to order online. There's no getting around it. Walking harnesses are not designed to distribute weight and pressure, and can and likely will cause injury.

The harness does not affect the motion of the dog's front legs and is very well padded for the chest, where most of the pressure is while pulling. This even has a handle on the back, as well as a place to clip on a leash near the handle. His dog actually loves the harness and gets excited when she sees it.

You should get a heavy duty harness that isn't too heavy. Also make sure that the front part of the harness (on chest) isn't then straps. You should get something that has a wide front, so the dog won't get hurt, tired, sore, etc. as fast. Also, make sure the front is comfortable.

They sell harnesses at PETCO and other Local Pet Shops. Not expensive at all.
