Nascar grants rights, names the NRA 500?
Won't this tarnish the reputation of ...ah... um... I mean won't this make people think that ... Oh nevermind.
What do you think about the NRA sponsoring a NASCAR race?
Bonus Question: Should NASCAR create a new "biathlon" event, where drivers have to shoot at targets while driving around the track?

I don't really care, as long as they found a sponsor. But to my surprise, I have seen many fans say they are DONE watching NASCAR because of this... huge shocker. This is going to hurt the MOTORsport even more, as if it wasn't already hurting enough. It may seem like the perfect fit, but apparently not. The track was who decided on the deal, to get the most money. Not NASCAR itself. SAMSUNG was the old sponsor of the race, they had been since 2002 when NASCAR was competing highly with the NFL. Besides, NASCAR isn't nearly as redneck as it used to be. As of now, only 10 (20%) full time drivers of about 50 drivers come from the Southeast portion of the US. Compared to 20+ years ago when nearly all of the drivers were from the region. And most of these Southeastern drivers are the older ones, the new generation of driver's isn't redneck at all. The state with most drivers is California, with 7. 2 from Washington, 3 from Nevada, 2 or 3 from Arizona, 3 from Wisconsin, and many other states that are not of the Southeast.
As you can see, there are many drivers who are not from the Southeast. I will also say that they race in many places everywhere across the US, including Fontana, California; Las Vegas, Nevada (This weekend!); Watkins Glen, NY; Pocono, Pennsylvania; Dover, Delware; Loudon, New Hampshire; Phoenix, Arizona; Sonoma, California; Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and more. They race in a lot of other places than in Texas and the Southeast.
I will also add that they don't go in a circle all the time, I have NO IDEA why people think that, or where they get that from. They have tracks with left AND right turns, that look nothing like a circle, called a road course, one looks like this: http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/CA/images/sea...
Pocono Raceway is also a triangle, not a circle.
And also, there are way more types of racing than NASCAR racing (Nascar is also known as stock car racing). There is ARCA racing, NHRA Drag Racing, IndyCar racing, Formula 1 racing, Rally car racing, sports car racing, motorcycle racing, and much, much more. People only refer to NASCAR when they think car racing, when there is so much more. Racing goes on all around the world, it's not just for rednecks like you think. Formula 1 racing is actually the biggest racing series in the world, racing in Europe and Asia, and sometimes in America, and they never ever go in a circle, they always race on road courses with left and right turns. NASCAR and ARCA are the ones doing the most circle tracks and left turning, but even they go right as well. IndyCar has some circle tracks, but most of them are road courses with the right and left turns.
Then you may say that all of these types or racing are not sports... guess what? They are.... they differ from sports that use a ball, so they are officially called... MOTORSPORTS (motorsports). And you'd also be surprised of how much physical activity takes place in any race car (a LOT)... look at this video to find out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkKKMI9laIU
And do not call if boring, there is no way in hell that you can call cars going 180- 230 MPH boring, that's exciting, especially IndyCars/ Formula 1 or something, they go way faster than NASCAR does. NHRA Drag Racing cars go over 300 MPH! It may not look that fast on TV, it may be boring on TV, but trust me, it's really exciting to actually attend a race of any kind, it's just a thrill, definitely not a bore. Surely something with so much speed shouldn't be called boring, it's super cool.
I am a fan of all types of racing, including NASCAR, and I thought I would educate you about it all before you hate on motorsports and talk trash about them again.

It's between the sponsor and the track. NASCAR, as the sanctioning body of the event, has some, but little say.

I am the dreaded southern white male, and I wish nascar would go away. I hate the "sport" and I really hate the fans.
As far as the NRA goes, I am a little shocked to find out that they are just now getting involved. It would seem a match made in heaven from the start.

Could care less. Lap after mundane lap, who actually watches a NASCAR race without falling asleep.
