    My favorites are:

Buddleia (butterfly bush, particularly the purple varieties)

    Monarda (bergamot or bee balm)

    Asclepias tuberosa (butterfly weed)

Salvia (a member of the sage family, particularly red varieties)

    Lobelia cardinalis (cardinal flower)

  • Buddleia (a.k.a. 'Butterfly Bush') is really attractive to Butterflies ! The pendulous conical shaped masses of tiny purple flowers draw in the Butterflies like a Magnet ! Buddleia can grow to become a really large bush ! So to keep it restricted in size you would need to grow it in a fairly small sized plant container !

N.B. The Butterfies will flutter by to this #1 Attractive Bush for ever so many numerous different types of Butterfly !

There's any such plant comprehend as the butterfly bush. These are available a style of colours and can grow wherever from 6' to 15' tall relying on the style that you simply plant. They are very easy to care for. I planted one a few years ago in my flower garden and the appeal via the butterflies is best. They're going to additionally entice hummingbirds.

As said Buddleia is renowned for attracting butterflies. The stuff will grow anywhere. You need to keep it trimed as a bush or it will quickly turn into a tree which can be a pain.

Buddleia is the favourite, and it grows anywhere. The same with lilac. However, if they are too big for your containers I'd also suggest azalea, Impatiens and marigolds as common flowerbed, pot and container flowers which also attract butterflies.
