Purity Ring uses a lot of 808 drum samples (triggered with an Akai MPD, at least when they're playing live). Google "Free 808 drum samples" and you'll find a ton. The Kaoss pad isn't really much of a drum machine; might be easier to use a software drum unit if you don't want to invest in MPC-type gear.
