self storage manager apartment no hot water. what are the landlord legal obligations besides paying to it?
I'm a manager at a self storage facility in California and yesterday my water heater went out.
What are the landlord legal obligations besides paying to it? since i've been without hot water and he is telling me to get a handyman to fix it. I just called out a plumber and he said he cant even fix it since its a A.O Smith model and a pain in the *** and not like a regular water heater. The plumber that A.O. Smith suggested wants $90 to just come out and the owner doesn't want to pay for it. Should the landlord offer a hotel? or... anything! Oh and I dont pay rent, only the gas bill (for the entire facility.

You do not have a right to anything more than a repair. If it goes on too long, you might have the right to quit your job and collect unemployment, but that's it.

It sounds like the owner needs to come up wtih a better plan and not make it your responsibility. You can help him by finding options, but it's up to him to act on one.
Legally, you may be able to not pay rent for the days it goes unfixed. So, if you go half a month without hot water, you don't have to pay half your rent that month. Or, just tell him you waive that if he hurries up and fixes it.
