Brauche Hilfe beim Übersetzen eines Satzes ins Englische ! :-)?

Zunächst mal: "cell phone" wäre zwar der korrekte Ausdruck für das Teil, so nennt das aber im täglichen Sprach-Gebrauch kein Mensch, da sagt so gut wie Jede/r "mobile".

"Eine SMS verschicken" wird tatsächlich mit "texting" übersetzt.

"Go on the internet" klingt schon ein bisschen steif, besser wäre es, stattdessen "going online" oder "surfing on the net" zu nehmen.

Und "my most used means of..." sagt man auch nicht, da heisst es einfach "my favorite means of..."

Also: "My favorite means of communication is my mobile, which I use for texting, calling (my friends) and surfing the net."

There is a huge difference to use office oriented English, popular "street talk" English, or slang. A cell-phone, or any other "thing" you use for communicating with the external world, is a communication device, same as computer peripherals are devices. A cell-phone might be called a communication unit as well. In slang it's just a Handy. Online networking is a more common denomination since Internet activity does not limits to surfing only, despite the term Internet surfing is more an all round term. You do not "go" on the internet, you connect to it. One says generally, to go online, what is a better way to express this, as "to go on the Internet". The word "on" designs a place on top of something, like, on the roof, on the top, on the edge, for example. You also do not say I phone, but you make a phone call, or you just call up to someone, you do phone calls, you do not make them, it is not a manufacturing process.

Hoffe das hilft ein bisschen. Richtig übersetzen, und auch gleich jemandem sagen wo er falsch liegt. Fehler, auch wenn es keine grossen sind, kann man verbessern wenn man sich deren bewusst ist. In einem Dialog ist es deshalb immer von Notwendigkeit diese Fehler zu diskutieren, und sie sich dann zu merken, um sie zu vermeiden. Menschen die Fremdsprachen sprechen tun solche Fehler gängig, nur, auch Menschen aus ihrem eigenen Sprachraum machen Fehler, oft beherrschen Einheimische ihre Sprache schlechter als Fremde welche sie erlernt haben. Dies macht sich jedoch meist beim Schreiben bemerkbar. Fremde erkennt man generell am Akzent. Ich bin auch kein Deutscher, und auch kein Englaender oder Ami, nur um dies zu bemerken. Ich wurde als Franzose geboren und spreche 7 lebendige Sprachen.

I find your own proposal to be perfectly natural, but as an American, I would call it a cellphone. Your suggestion is at least as good as anything I have seen in the answers so far.

My favourite means of comm. is my cp/cell phone; i may use it for sending SMS messages, for phone calls, or even for going online.
