If I'm not entirely sure if I'll be able to go to college immediately after High School...?
Should I still apply for financial aid and scholarships and all that kind of stuff?
I'm a senior in high school and we are about 2 weeks into our second semester of this year. I that I'm probably going to end up going to community college and I know what I want to do, but I just don't exactly know if I'll be able immediately be able to go to college when the next school year comes up or if I'll have to work for a year before I apply. I want to sign up for financial aid and get some scholarships and all that, but if I get awarded some of those scholarships and financial aid and all that, would I be able to hold on to that money and use it when I am able to go to college or would I have to fill that stuff out when I am actually sure that I'm ready to go?
I tried asking a my school counselor and I tried contacting the community college, but I don't think they understood what I was asking and they just gave me websites where I could apply for the scholarships and financial aid.

You should go back and ask them if you can use scholarship money and financial aid you receive this year for the fall of 2014 rather than the fall of 2013.
I don't think you can though. Financial aid is something you have to do every year, and scholarships are yearly as well. But then again I'm not in college so I wouldn't know for sure. I graduated high school may 2012, and I'm not going to college until 2014 so I still haven't done that, but if you have to wait a year it should be fine. I'd suggest starting your scholarships and stuff now since you actually still have time, but if you don't have the money it's fine to wait and do it all next year as well.

You should apply to whatever colleges you want to go to, both 4-year and community colleges. Apply for financial aid for them at each school. You may find you get more help from the 4-year school than the community college, so why go to a CC if you don't have to?
If you can get enough financial aid to go to college next year, then go. If you take a year off to work, even if you're working so you can pay for college, they will expect you to keep on working. So it's really best to just go right to college.
You have to apply for financial aid every year. They don't hold your aid because circumstances change in a year, and because other people can use that money.
If you can't go to school next year after all, no harm done. You just won't accept the financial aid and will apply again when you can. And of course, if you are accepted to more than one school, you would only use the financial aid awarded by that school.
